Why Work Is Different With ADHD

The modern workplace was not designed for ADHD brains. Open-plan offices, back-to-back meetings, lengthy emails, and constant context switching all play to ADHD's weaknesses. Research by Biederman and Faraone (2006) found that adults with ADHD earn significantly less over their lifetime and have higher rates of job turnover.

But ADHD also brings real strengths to the workplace: creativity, problem-solving, energy, and the ability to hyperfocus when engaged. My coaching helps you lean into those strengths while building strategies for the bits that trip you up. Learn more about ADHD at work and Access to Work funding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from professionals looking for ADHD coaching.

Can Access to Work fund my ADHD coaching?

Yes, potentially. Access to Work is a government scheme that can fund workplace support for disabled employees, including those with ADHD. This can cover coaching sessions, assistive technology, and other adjustments. You apply directly to Access to Work, and if approved, the funding covers the cost of your sessions. I can help you understand the process and what to include in your application.

Should I tell my employer about my ADHD?

This is a very personal decision. Disclosing your ADHD can open the door to reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, but it is understandable to have concerns. I help clients think through the pros and cons, what to say, and how to approach the conversation. You can also request adjustments without a full disclosure by framing them as general wellbeing or productivity needs.

What workplace strategies do you help with?

Common areas include time management and meeting focus, prioritisation and managing competing deadlines, email and admin management, managing open-plan office distractions, navigating workplace relationships, preparing for performance reviews and difficult conversations, and understanding your rights to reasonable adjustments.

Do I need a diagnosis to access ADHD coaching for professionals?

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with me. Many of my professional clients are on NHS waiting lists, going through private assessment, or simply recognise ADHD traits that affect their work. However, a formal diagnosis is usually required to access Access to Work funding or request reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act.

How much does ADHD coaching for professionals cost?

Single sessions are £125 for 60 minutes. I also offer bundles: 3 sessions for £320 (save 15%) or 5 sessions for £470 (save 25%). If you are eligible for Access to Work, your sessions may be fully funded. Start with a free 15-minute discovery call to discuss your options.
